Company Sarond s.r.o. has completed the development and successfully delivered a DAMPER TESTING DEVICE specifically designed for trams. This station was created to improve the diagnostics and maintenance of tram bogies, emphasizing high precision, reliability, and ease of operation.
The DAMPER TESTER (hereinafter referred to as the DEVICE) is designed as a standalone workstation with integration for subsequent assembly processes. The device operates semi-automatically and requires operator interaction.
The device tests three types of dampers, differing in length and mounting method. For each type of damper, appropriate clamping brackets and steel inserts are provided, enabling the damper to be secured in the device using a standardized pin with a flexible locking cotter pin.
The device is used to test tram dampers during maintenance inspections in a service workshop. During the test, the damper's ability to achieve the damping force specified by the manufacturer is verified. This force corresponds to a defined piston rod movement speed during both compression and extension of the damper within a range of +/- 50 mm from the central position of the total working stroke. The total test stroke of the damper during testing is thus 100 mm. The test results express the deviation of the damper’s damping force from the value specified by the manufacturer. The deviation size is displayed using a simple color-coded indicator on the device's screen.
The device can be adapted not only for tram vehicles but also for a wide range of requirements in transport engineering, depending on adjustments to input parameters and mounting configurations.
